PostHive - project for archiving and categorizing emails.
What I want
The system would be an archive for all my e-mail messages. All messages would be stored on media, that is easily backupable.
The system should allow grouping of e-mails.
The grouping of e-mails should work in two ways:
1. manual grouping
2. automatic grouping

Manual grouping just means possibility to assign a message to a category.
Automatic grouping would mean that you can define a filter (a set of rules ) and all the messages matching would be asisigned to that group.
Automatic grouping would mean that you can define a filter (a set of rules ) and all the messages matching would be asisigned to that group.
Messages would be assigned into an automatic group at the time when the group is defined or when new messages are imported to the system.
1. It should be possible to write the filters using some kindo of scripting language.

It should be possible to easily export all messages, messages in the selected group or individual messages to an external program (for example bounce the messages to specified address, export directly into formats supported by popular e-mail systems)
It should be possible to easily import messages from external e-mail programs - for example read popular message box formats such as mbox, Outlook's .pst or Pegasus mail.
It should be possible to access the archive using some kind of GUI.
It should be possible to have an gateway for external programs to access the archive.
